This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how we protect it, and how you can access, correct or complain about it. We collect only what we need, and we never sell your information.
01
About this policy
Murphys Technology Pty Ltd (ABN 97 628 755 055), referred to in this policy as "we", "us" or "our", respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information.
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to our website at murphystechnology.com.au, to our client dashboard and client portals, and to every service we provide.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). By using our website or engaging our services, you agree to this policy.
02
The information we collect
We only collect information that we genuinely need in order to run our business and deliver your services. Depending on how you deal with us, this may include:
- Contact and identity details. Your name, business name, email address, phone number, postal or business address, and ABN.
- Billing information. Invoices, quotes, contracts, payment records, and the details you supply for payment. We do not store full credit card numbers on our systems. Card payments are handled by our payment providers.
- Project information. The content, images, logos, copy, credentials and other materials you provide so that we can build, host or market your website.
- Account and access data. Login details for the accounts you ask us to manage or connect, such as hosting, domain, Google or social platform accounts. Credentials are stored securely and used only for the purpose you gave them to us for.
- Website and technical data. Your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring website, and the date and time of your visit. This is collected automatically when you visit our website.
- Correspondence. Emails, messages, support requests and notes from our conversations with you.
We do not seek to collect sensitive information (such as health, racial, political or religious information). If we ever need to, we will ask for your consent first.
03
How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you wherever possible, for example when you fill in a form on our website, request a quote, accept a quote or contract online, email or call us, or provide materials for your project.
We also collect some information automatically through our website using cookies and analytics tools, as explained in clause 5.
Occasionally we may collect information about you from third parties, such as a referral from another client, or publicly available business listings. If we receive information about you that we did not ask for and do not need, we will destroy or de identify it where the law allows.
04
Why we collect and use it
We use your personal information to:
- provide the services you have engaged us for, including design, development, hosting, SEO and digital marketing;
- prepare and send quotes, contracts, invoices, receipts and payment reminders;
- communicate with you about your project, your account, renewals and support requests;
- manage and improve our website and our services;
- meet our legal, tax and record keeping obligations; and
- send you information about our services, where you have agreed to receive it or where it is directly related to a service you already use.
We will not use your personal information for a purpose that you would not reasonably expect, unless you have consented or the law requires or permits it.
05
Cookies, analytics and advertising
Our website uses cookies, which are small text files stored on your device. Cookies help the site function properly, remember your preferences, and allow us to understand how the site is being used.
We use analytics and advertising tools provided by third parties, which may include Google Analytics, Google Ads and Meta (Facebook and Instagram). These tools may set cookies or similar technologies and collect information such as your IP address, the pages you visit and how you interact with our site. They may also be used to show you our advertising on other websites (this is known as remarketing).
You can control or disable cookies in your browser settings. If you disable cookies, some parts of our website may not work as intended. You can also opt out of Google Analytics using the browser add on published by Google, and adjust your advertising preferences directly with Google and Meta.
06
Marketing communications
If we send you marketing emails, every message will identify us clearly and include an easy way to unsubscribe, in line with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
You can opt out of marketing at any time by clicking unsubscribe or by emailing info@murphystechnology.com. We will action your request promptly.
Please note that we will still need to send you service messages, such as invoices, renewal notices and important account information, for as long as you are a client.
07
When we share your information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We only share it where it is necessary, and only with parties who are required to protect it. This may include:
- Service providers who help us operate, such as our web hosting and server providers, email and SMTP providers, payment processors, accounting software, and backup services.
- Platforms you have engaged us to manage on your behalf, such as Google, Meta, domain registrars or hosting companies.
- Our contractors and staff, who may access information only as needed to deliver your services, and who are bound to keep it confidential.
- Professional advisers, such as our accountant or lawyers, where reasonably required.
- Government or regulatory bodies, where we are required or permitted to disclose by law.
08
Overseas disclosure
Some of our team members, contractors and service providers are located outside Australia, including in Nepal, and some of the platforms we use (such as cloud hosting, email and analytics providers) store data on servers located overseas, including in the United States.
This means your personal information may be accessed or stored outside Australia. Where we disclose personal information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to ensure that the recipient handles it in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
By providing your information to us, you consent to this overseas disclosure on the basis set out above.
09
Information we handle for our clients
If we build, host or manage a website for you, we may store or have access to personal information belonging to your own customers, such as enquiry form submissions or customer records held in your website.
In that situation we act on your instructions. We treat that information as confidential, we access it only where it is needed to deliver or support your service, and we do not use it for our own purposes.
You remain responsible for having your own privacy policy and for handling your customers' information lawfully.
10
How we keep your information secure
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
Our measures include encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and strong passwords, two factor authentication on our systems, restricted staff access on a need to know basis, and regular backups of our systems.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. While we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security, and any information you send to us is sent at your own risk.
11
How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or for as long as the law requires.
Financial records, including invoices and payment records, are kept for at least 7 years to meet our obligations under Australian tax law.
When information is no longer needed and we are not required to keep it, we destroy or de identify it.
12
Data breaches
We maintain procedures to deal with a suspected data breach.
If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm to any individual whose information we hold, we will notify the affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
13
Accessing and correcting your information
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and you may ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete.
To make a request, email us at info@murphystechnology.com. We may need to verify your identity first. We will respond within a reasonable period, and in most cases within 30 days.
Access is normally free. If a request is complex or resource intensive, we may charge a reasonable fee, and we will tell you before proceeding. If we refuse access or a correction, we will explain why in writing.
14
Making a complaint
If you believe we have breached your privacy or mishandled your personal information, please tell us first. Email info@murphystechnology.com with the details, and we will acknowledge your complaint and investigate it.
We will respond to you in writing, normally within 30 days, and we will always make a genuine effort to resolve the matter fairly.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may refer the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, or by phone on 1300 363 992.
15

Our website and services are intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us and we will delete it.
